Ephraim Kishon (1924-2005)

is one of the most popular writers and satirists of the world. In his satires Kishon tells the reader, with a lot of love and irony, about the »Israeli man in the street« and his fight against an all-powerful bureaucracy. But the most common victim of his satirical rage is his own family. Kishon was fighting a publicist war against the »modern art mafia« and the inhuman institution called marriage. But he wrote cynic political satires, too. Examples include satires about the Six Day War and the Yom Kippur War and Communism.
Besides being a writer and journalist, Kishon was a very successful theatre and film director.
